Email us
support@chairbooks.com is the way to reach us, and it is read by a person rather than a ticket queue.
Tell us the email address on your account and what you were doing when it went wrong. If something looks off in your numbers, the date range you were looking at is the single most useful detail you can send.
There is no support phone line. Email reaches us faster and leaves a written trail of what was agreed, which matters when the subject is somebody's books.
Common questions
If the answer you need is not here, email us — this list grows from what people actually ask.
I can't get into my account
Use the Forgot password link on the log-in screen. The reset email arrives from a ChairBooks address; if it is not in your inbox within a few minutes, check the spam folder before trying again, because each new request invalidates the previous link.
If a new account cannot get past the confirm-your-email screen, the confirmation link may have expired — there is a Resend button on that screen. Still stuck, or the address on the account is one you no longer control? Email us from any address and say which account it is. We verify you own it before we change anything.
How do I cancel?
Open the ⚙ menu in the top corner of the app and choose Subscription. Cancelling is self-serve and takes one click. You do not have to email us, and nobody will ask you to sit through a phone call about it.
Export a backup before you go, so your client list and your books are yours to keep whatever you use next. The steps are one question down.
How do I export my data?
Go to Studio → Profile and press Download backup. You get one file holding your clients, appointments, services, products, income and expenses — your whole account, not a summary of it.
For a client list you can open in a spreadsheet or hand to another booking app, Studio → Profile → Import also exports your clients as a CSV. Both work at any time, and neither asks a reason.
How do I delete my account?
Studio → Profile → Delete my account, inside the app. It is permanent: it removes your clients, appointments, income and expense records, and it disconnects any bank connection you had linked. Your public booking page stops working.
Export a backup first. We cannot restore a deleted account, and we would rather say that plainly here than in a reply to somebody who has already pressed it.
How does online booking work?
Every studio gets its own booking page at a web address you choose. Share the link in your Instagram bio or by text, and a client picks a service and an open time from your real calendar — they only ever see times you are genuinely free, because that page reads the same calendar you work from.
A booking lands on your calendar already filled in, with the client's name and contact details attached. If they are new, a client record is created for them; if they have been in before, it attaches to the record you already have.
You decide whether a request books straight in or waits for your approval, and whether a deposit or a card on file is required before the slot is held.
How does the bank feed work?
You connect a business bank account or card through Plaid, the service that handles bank connections for a lot of the finance apps you already use. You sign in at your own bank, inside their screen. ChairBooks never sees your banking password.
After that, transactions arrive in your expenses already sorted into a category, waiting for you to say yes. Rules you set — anything from this supplier is product cost, say — are applied as they come in. It reads transactions; it cannot move money.
It is part of your ChairBooks account rather than a separate add-on, and you can disconnect it whenever you like from Studio → Bank Feed. Disconnecting stops the feed and leaves the expenses already in your books alone.
One thing it is not: ChairBooks helps you keep your books and estimates what to set aside, and it does not file anything with anyone. Treat the tax figures as a starting point for your CPA, not as a return.
Will my clients get texts from you?
Only the ones who ask for them. A client has to tick the reminder box on your booking page — there is no way for you or for us to switch texts on for somebody who has not opted in, and that is deliberate.
Anyone can reply STOP to any message to stop receiving them, and HELP to get our contact details. Their number is used for their appointments and nothing else. Never sold, never shared for marketing.
Something in my numbers looks wrong
Check the date range first. Most of the money screens open on the current month, and a total that looks too small is usually a range that ends before the work you are thinking of. The presets — This month, Last 3 months, This year — sit along the top of each ledger.
If the range is right and the figure is still wrong, email us with that range and what you expected to see. A number being wrong in somebody's books is the kind of problem we drop other things for.
